Gunstoppable Challenges
Challenge orbs, Steam trophies, and why a dead run can still widen the next loadout.
Gunstoppable’s challenge layer is how a short campaign stays replayable. CAGE Studios ships challenge orbs in arenas, upgrade-collection style goals from the demo era, and 21 Steam achievements — including Challenge Accepted. None of that is a redeem-code board. If you arrived from a “codes” search, read Codes first, then come back here for the systems that actually unlock guns.
This page covers what challenges do, how they interact with Kane and meta upgrades, which trophies are confirmed, and the Patch 29 fix for the hidden Juno achievement. Exact in-game orb wording can change; trust the card on your pause menu over an old screenshot.
What a challenge orb is
During floors you will find challenge orbs (demo Patch 13 already had to fix their spawn locations). Completing the listed objective — a movement feat, a combat condition, a collection task — unlocks weapons, attachments, or augments for future runs. That is why Getting Started tells you a first death can still be productive: the pool got wider even if Vex did not fall.
Demo Patch 22 added an upgrade collection challenge and fixed a critical kills challenge. Those names describe kinds of goals, not a permanent public spreadsheet. Live 1.0 keeps the same idea: die, keep the unlock, try a new pair from Weapons.
How to play an orb without derailing the run
- Read the trigger. If it wants grapples on enemies, do not take it on a route that only grapples walls (Movement).
- Finish the orb or skip it. A half-chased challenge that dies your speedometer is worse than leaving it.
- Do not confuse orb progress with Kane purchases. One is unlocks; the other is this-run power. Patch 29’s Kane heal does not complete orbs.
- After the run, spend meta currency on permanent upgrades so the new gun has a body that can hold speed.
City survival used to show wave-spawn popups (Patch 13). Use those as a reminder that challenge timing and wave timing can collide — clear the wave, then finish the orb if both are live.
Steam achievements that sit on this layer
Steam lists 21 achievements. Confirmed names used across this wiki:
| Achievement | What it asks |
|---|---|
| Challenge Accepted | Complete challenge-style goals (orbs / listed challenges). |
| Over Achiever | 100,000 score in a single run — Views & Scoring. |
| Robot Demon | 10,000 kills across runs. |
| **Juno ******* (secret) | Hidden. Patch 29 fixed this achievement. We do not print the full spoiler title. |
Other titles stay hidden until you unlock them. Achievements groups hunting habits without guessing every string. Patch 29 also fixed incorrect difficulty in post-run stats, which matters if you are comparing challenge clears across seeds.
Challenges versus codes versus Discord
| Channel | Unlocks weapons? |
|---|---|
| Challenge orbs | Yes — the intended live path |
| Steam achievements | Cosmetics/trophies; some overlap with challenge play |
| Discord / Steam news | Patches, playtests, no redeem box |
| Pastebin “codes” | No |
Demo-era Fluffy playtest strings are archived history, not a 1.0 orb.
Patch notes that change challenge feel
You do not need a new orb list after every patch, but combat patches change whether an orb is realistic:
- Patch 28 — life steal (radial included), Act 3 damage +50%, pickup radius 60→100. Collection and sustain challenges got easier to finish because bolts and health vacuum from farther away.
- Patch 29 — assassin melee −50%, enemy damage scaling −10%, parry i-frames on katana/knife, longer slides. Movement challenges that used to die on winged assassins are fairer. Juno secret achievement fixed. Space pistol description corrected (not semi-auto) — read the live card if a challenge mentions fire mode.
- Older demo notes: challenge orbs spawning wrong (Patch 13), incorrect challenge-orb progress display (Patch 25 Next Fest hotfix).
If an orb looks impossible, check Patch Notes before assuming it is broken.
Building around unlocks
New weapons should enter a named job, not a souvenir slot. Starter Builds and Loadout Helper exist so a freshly unlocked crossbow does not sit idle while both hands try to be shotguns. After Patch 28, shotgun (more ammo, less damage) and crossbow (flatter, slightly softer) play different rooms — assign them.
Boss-gated players should not farm orbs in Vex/Vox arenas until the movement line survives a miss. Use early Underwater Prison rooms as the classroom; save Act 3 orbs for when the pair already works.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Gunstoppable questions.
Do Gunstoppable challenges give redeem codes?
No. Challenge orbs unlock weapons and mods for future runs. There is no codes menu — see [Codes](/guides/codes/).
What is Challenge Accepted?
A confirmed Steam achievement for completing challenge-style goals. Track habits on [Achievements](/tools/achievements/) without spoiling every hidden title.
What did Patch 29 fix about Juno?
Patch 29 fixed the secret Juno achievement. We keep the full title hidden; update the game if it was stuck.
Should I finish every orb in a first clear?
No. Skip orbs that break a movement line you cannot recover. Unlocks matter, but a dead run with zero Kane shops teaches less.
Did challenge orb progress ever display wrong?
Yes in a Next Fest hotfix (Patch 25 era). If a live orb looks stuck, verify files and compare with the current pause-menu text.
