Gunstoppable Vex and Vox

The Act 3 capitalist gate CAGE buffed twice in the first live patches — fight them as a pair, not as two solo scripts.

Vex and Vox Boss Guide — Act 3 Capitalist Gate

Vex and Vox are the named Act 3 capitalist bosses in Gunstoppable’s four-act campaign. CAGE Studios did not publish a beat-by-beat pattern sheet, but the live patches treat them as a single gate: Patch 28 raised Act 3 boss damage by 50%, and Patch 29 raised Vex/Vox health by 30%. If you learned the fight on launch weekend, those two numbers are why the room now lasts longer and punishes greedy reloads harder.

This page stays honest about what is confirmed versus what is routing advice. Confirmed facts come from Steam news. Loadout advice follows the same rules as every other Gunstoppable boss: keep momentum, stagger dual-wield reloads, spend Reaper Mode on overlapping threats, and shop at Kane the Rat — Patch 29 even added restore health to that Black Market, which matters more after an Act 3 damage buff.

Watch the official PC launch trailer above for campaign tone. It will not replace a phase script; it will remind you the game sells paired spectacle, not a quiet duel.

Where Vex/Vox sit in the campaign

Bosses Overview still maps five capitalist gates. Community routing places Fluffy early, Johnny Jetpack as a vertical celebrity fight, and Vex/Vox as the Act 3 spike before Dusk and the finale. Exact door labels in your HUD beat any wiki table — if the game calls the next executive Vex or Vox, you are here.

Act 3 sits after the underwater prison opener and the cyberpunk city stretch for most clears. Arrive with:

  • A practiced movement line that survives one missed grapple (Getting Started first-clear logic still applies)
  • Two weapons that cover different jobs — Patch 28’s Act 3 damage buff makes “both hands fail at the same range” a run-ender
  • Challenge unlocks you actually use, not a code (Codes does not exist as a redeem system)

What the patches actually changed

Patch 28 (first numbered live patch, ~August 8, 2026)

  • Act 3 boss damage +50% — this is the headline for Vex/Vox.
  • Final boss damage +25% — relevant if you are routing past this gate the same night; see Dusk.
  • Life on hit → life steal (damage percent). Radial damage such as rockets now triggers it. A high-damage hand became better sustain; a tickle pistol did not.
  • Pickup radius 60 → 100 for bolts and health — less time spent vacuuming while the twins (or the arena) keep shooting.
  • Weapon tunes: shotgun ammo 3→4 but damage 15→11; rocket reload 2.6→2.2; space pistol reload 1.4→1.5; crossbow gravity 1→0.6, reload 1.7→1.5, damage 22→20; banana-rang +10% speed and range; black hole damage 10→12.
  • Duplicate-weapon-in-attachment-slot bug fixed — do not copy malformed hex layouts from launch-week clips.

Patch 29 (Combat Balancing, ~August 15, 2026)

  • Vex/Vox health +30% — the gate is thicker, not just punchier.
  • Life steal percentages −50%, but minimum 1 health per hit, and life steal no longer applies through shields/armor.
  • Enemy damage scaling −10%, assassin melee −50%, explosive projectile radius −50% — the adds around the fight are slightly fairer while the boss HP went up.
  • Black Hole: radius 100→150, radius scaling 3x→0.5x, duration 3→2 — crowd control is wider but less runaway.
  • Parry invulnerability on katana/knife; longer slides at 125% speed; no extra attack/reload slowdown while standing still (speed multipliers from Patch 26 still reward motion).
  • Kane can restore health.

How to fight a paired Act 3 gate

Treat Vex and Vox as one encounter with two threat clocks, even when only one silhouette is on screen:

  1. Name a job for each hand before the door. One hand holds pressure if a transfer fails; the other bursts or controls space. Dual-wield combos and Starter Builds exist for this.
  2. Do not spend Reaper as a panic button. Identify overlapping targets or a dangerous surface change first, then press Q or B. Patch 24 made Reaper manual; that has not changed.
  3. Parry only on a readable melee or slam. Patch 29’s katana/knife i-frames make a committed parry safer than launch week, but a whiff still dumps speed.
  4. Life steal is not a stand-still heal. Percent steal was halved in Patch 29 and blocked by shields. Keep the speedometer honest; Patch 26 still multiplies damage, attack speed, and reload while you move.
  5. Buy Kane’s heal if you arrive scraped. That option did not exist at launch.

If the meter dies in the same corner, shorten the movement line. If the meter stays high and the bosses live, the missing job is the weapon package — including Patch 28 shotgun/rocket/crossbow numbers, not a forgotten code.

Loadout notes after the live tunes

ToolWhy it matters on this gate
Rocket launcherFaster reload (Patch 28); radial life steal if you still run that card
CrossbowFlatter bolts after gravity 1→0.6 then 0.6→0.5; slightly less damage
Black Hole GunWider radius, shorter duration, tamer scaling — Black Hole Gun
ShotgunExtra shell, less pellet damage — closer burst, worse poke
Katana / knifePatch 29 parry i-frames
Banana-rangFaster, longer — still a coverage tool, not a guaranteed S pick

Weapons Tier List is a snapshot, not a Patch 29 oracle. Re-test pairs after each Steam post.

Vex and Vox are why Act 3 stopped feeling like a victory lap. Bring two jobs, one Reaper plan, and the current patch card text.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Gunstoppable questions.

Who are Vex and Vox in Gunstoppable?

They are the named Act 3 capitalist bosses. Patch 28 raised Act 3 boss damage by 50% and Patch 29 raised Vex/Vox health by 30%.

Did CAGE publish official Vex/Vox phase scripts?

No. Use Steam patch numbers plus general momentum, dual-wield, and Reaper rules. Invented numeric rotations will go stale after the next balance drop.

Should I still use life steal against Vex/Vox?

Yes as sustain, with caveats: Patch 29 halved life-steal percentages, blocked steal through shields/armor, and set a minimum of 1 HP per hit.

Is Kane useful right before Act 3?

Yes. Patch 29 added restore health to Kane's Black Market, which offsets the Act 3 damage buff if you arrive low.

What should I read after beating Vex/Vox?

Open [Dusk](/bosses/dusk/) for the next named health buff, then the [Campaign Walkthrough](/bosses/campaign-walkthrough/) for finale routing.
